Deborah Richman Bio
Dr. Deborah K. Richman is a leading business-woman in the fragrance industry.
Deborah began her career working for 3M (Minnesota, Manufacturing Mining), a Fortune 500 Company, as a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative. In her 12-year tenure there, she worked her way up to become Director of Sales and Marketing for the Personal Care Products Division. In this role, she was recognized for assisting with the development of the innovative Buf-Puf brand, Post-it Notes, Scent Strips Encapsulated Technology, First Aid products, and dozens of other successful brands.
The knowledge and experience that she gained at 3M inspired Deborah to embark on an entrepreneurial path, where she has been responsible for founding numerous successful beauty companies. These included Emerge Cosmetics and Deborah International Beauty, which, at its peak, held a 40% share in the alternative designer fragrance market.
Currently, Deborah is the President and CEO of DK USA, Ltd., which is a leading company in creating branded and private label products in fragrance, personal care, and beauty, and is associated with Lady In Red, Ltd. and CelebrityScents, LLC.
A long time beauty pioneer and expert, Deborah has brought dozens of products to market from concept to retail. She has the ability to “think outside the box,” and has been recognized and honored by the fragrance foundation for creating top selling retail fragrance brands. She designs collections for her own brands, and collaborates and creates successful brands for her clients.
Deborah’s first fragrance creation was the ICON brand LADY IN RED. Deborah is undoubtingly the Lady in Red having a huge passion in every aspect of her life for the color Red. The Lady in Red celebrates “Authentic Beauty.” The Lady in Red fragrance reflects the spirit of real woman who take pride in the Beauty of Health and Happiness, in Body, Mind and Spirit.
Besides Family and Fragrance, Deborah is very passionate about The American Heart Association and Go Red For Woman. The Lady in Red Fragrance has supported the mission & goals of this Exciting Movement for 25 years. Deborah is very proud to have been chosen as the 2015 Honoree. Her tireless efforts and energy help woman to know & understand their risks of heart disease so they can take action to reduce them and lead normal healthy lives.
Deborah holds a Bachelor’s and Master of Science Degree in Psychology from Long Island University, C.W. Post Campus, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. In 2011 she received the Doctor of Humane Letters degree from Dowling College, and had the honor of being the commencement speaker for Dowling's Graduate School. An additional honor for Deborah was being selected to speak at the ACE conference, American Collegiate Entrepreneurs in Washington, D.C., and has been featured on Entrepreneur Radio.
Deborah is also an active member of her community and is a strong supporter of Mt. Sinai Hospital, the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, and she is an active supporter of the FIDF (Friends of the Israeli Defense Force). She has served as President of the Pine Hollow Country Club Ladies Board and was a Trustee of Dowling College in Long Island NY.
Deborah is married to her childhood sweetheart and is the proud mother and grandmother of her son, daughter, and six grandchildren.
